What is the RBI DEPR Exam?
Full Form: RBI – Department of Economic and Policy Research (DEPR)
Purpose: Recruits economists for the RBI’s Economics Research Department (i.e., DEPR) as well as other key departments like the Monetary Policy Department, etc.
Role: Selected officers contribute to policy analysis, economic forecasting, research, and monetary policy formulation.
Exam Structure: Two-phase selection – Phase 1 (2 Papers: Economics objective and English descriptive) and Phase 2 (2 descriptive papers)
Cadre: Classified as Grade ‘B’ officers in the RBI’s Services. Gradually, selected candidates rise at higher level (after promotions).
