CUET PG Economics PYQs are useful for much more than checking whether you can solve old questions. They show you how Economics concepts have actually been converted into objective questions, what kinds of factual details can appear, where numericals are asked, and how the style of the paper can change from one year to another.
On this page, you can download CUET PG Economics previous year papers from 2021 to 2026, with answer keys or solved versions. You will also find a practical method for analysing each paper so that PYQ practice improves your preparation rather than becoming a memory exercise.
If you are preparing for CUET PG MA Economics as part of a broader set of MA Economics entrance exams, the same habit of analysing old papers is valuable for exams such as IIT JAM Economics too. However, use the PYQs of each exam separately because syllabus emphasis and question style are not identical.
Start here: use PYQs as a diagnostic, not a shortcut
Best use of a PYQ: attempt the question, identify the topic being tested, understand why the correct option is correct, and then revise the surrounding concept. A PYQ should expand your preparation, not narrow it to a list of remembered answers.

CUET PG Economics PYQ: Download Previous Year Papers (2021–2026)
A better way to use these downloads
Choose a year → attempt the question paper without answers → check the answer key only after you finish. This keeps PYQ practice diagnostic rather than passive.
Latest paper
2026
Attempt the paper without answers first. Use the solved version only after completing your attempt.
2025
Attempt the paper without answers first. Use the solved version only after completing your attempt.
2024
Attempt the paper without answers first. Use the solved version only after completing your attempt.
2023 · Shift 1
Attempt the paper without answers first. Use the solved version only after completing your attempt.
2023 · Shift 2
Attempt the paper without answers first. Use the solved version only after completing your attempt.
2022
Attempt the paper without answers first. Use the solved version only after completing your attempt.
2021
Attempt the paper without answers first. Use the solved version only after completing your attempt.
Recommendation: solve all available papers rather than restricting yourself to only the latest two or three years. Older CUET PG Economics previous year papers are still useful for understanding the range of topics and question formats.
How to Use CUET PG Economics Previous Year Papers
A good PYQ routine should answer three questions: What did I know? What did I miss? What do I now need to revise? Use the following five-step process.
- Attempt before reading the answer. For your first attempt, avoid turning the exercise into passive reading. Mark questions as sure, unsure, guessed or unknown.
- Tag the underlying topic. Write the broad topic beside every question you got wrong or guessed. A question on Slutsky decomposition is not merely “Question 27”; it is a signal to revisit consumer theory.
- Diagnose the reason for the error. Was it a conceptual gap, a forgotten fact, a calculation mistake, a misread statement or lack of familiarity with the question format?
- Revise beyond the exact question. Read the surrounding concept, related results and common applications. This is particularly important for factual questions involving economists, books, theories, institutions or chronology.
- Reattempt later under time pressure. A correct answer on the second attempt is useful only if you understand why it is correct. Reattempt weak questions after a gap and periodically solve full papers under exam-like conditions.

What CUET PG Economics PYQs Can—and Cannot—Tell You
Previous year papers are evidence about the past, not a prediction of the next paper. Their strongest value is in revealing the range of preparation you may need.
Breadth of preparation
PYQs reveal whether your preparation is too narrow. Questions may come from theory, numericals, facts, institutions, chronology and economists across the syllabus.
Depth of preparation
A familiar chapter name can still produce an unfamiliar question. Analyse how deeply a concept was tested rather than merely counting how often the topic appeared.
Changing question style
Older and newer papers need not look alike. Prepare to recognise a concept when it is wrapped in matching, sequencing, multi-statement or other formats.
Do not convert PYQ trends into rigid forecasts such as “this chapter will definitely have five questions next year.” Instead, use them to identify blind spots. For deeper evidence from the 2021–2026 papers, see our topic-wise CUET PG Economics PYQ analysis.
Do Not Ignore Factual Questions in CUET PG Economics
Students who are comfortable with mathematical Economics sometimes get surprised by questions that look comparatively factual: an economist associated with a theory, the author of a book, the order of events, an institution, a policy term or a historical fact.
The useful response is not to debate whether such a question is “conceptual enough”. In a competitive examination, your preparation has to accommodate the paper that is set. Maintain small factual sheets alongside conceptual notes for economic history, economists, institutions, theories, books and chronology. More importantly, link every fact to its surrounding concept so that recall is meaningful rather than random.
This habit also helps beyond CUET. Candidates appearing for multiple MA Economics entrance exams often benefit from a common foundation of concepts and factual awareness, even though each exam has its own syllabus and pattern.
Should You Memorise CUET PG Economics PYQs?
No—do not memorise a PYQ merely to remember the correct option. Treat the question as a doorway to the broader topic.
Suppose a paper asks one particular result from consumer theory. Your job is not to store that exact option in memory. Revisit the concept, its assumptions, related properties and the kinds of variations that can be tested. The same logic applies to a factual question: if a PYQ asks about one economist or institution, understand the associated theory or institutional role as well.
A simple test is to ask: “If NTA changes the wording or asks a nearby concept, can I still answer?” If the answer is no, the PYQ has not yet been fully used.
CUET PG Economics PYQs vs Mock Tests: What Should You Prioritise?
| PYQs | Mock Tests |
|---|---|
| Show what has actually been asked | Can test what has not yet appeared |
| Reveal past topic coverage and question formats | Broaden practice across the syllabus |
| Help diagnose your preparation against real papers | Help build speed, stamina and decision-making |
| Limited by the small number of past papers | Quality depends on how well the mock is designed |
The two resources solve different problems. Use CUET PG Economics PYQs to understand the actual examination and use a strong CUET PG Economics Mock Test Series to prepare for a wider set of possibilities.
A practical sequence: Syllabus → Conceptual study → Topic-wise questions → PYQs → Revision → Full-length mock tests.
CUET PG MA Economics and Other MA Economics Entrance Exams
Many students preparing for CUET PG MA Economics are also considering IIT JAM Economics and other MA Economics entrance exams. There is substantial overlap in the underlying Economics you study, so a strong foundation in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Mathematics, Statistics and the Indian Economy can support preparation across exams.
But do not assume that one exam’s PYQs can replace another’s. The syllabus, depth, question mix and emphasis can differ. Use CUET PYQs to understand CUET; use IIT JAM Economics syllabus and IIT JAM papers to understand IIT JAM.
If you are building a common foundation for multiple entrances, our MA Economics entrance coaching overview explains how we approach CUET PG Economics, IIT JAM Economics and related entrances together without treating their papers as identical.
When Should You Solve CUET PG Economics PYQs?
You do not have to wait until the entire syllabus is complete. Use PYQs differently at different stages.
- Early preparation: scan a paper to understand the breadth of the exam, but do not judge yourself on the score.
- After completing a topic: solve relevant PYQs to see whether your understanding survives objective questioning.
- After substantial syllabus coverage: attempt full papers without answers and review every mistake.
- During revision: reattempt questions you previously got wrong, guessed or took too long to solve.
- Before the exam: use selected full papers and mocks under time limits rather than repeatedly reading solved PDFs.
Keep the official CUET PG Economics syllabus beside you while analysing PYQs. If a paper exposes a weak area, return to the relevant topic and use a standard text from our CUET PG Economics booklist.
